Visva Bharati University Professors support CAA…

VBU professors support CAA as Mamata Banerjee goes all out against citizenship law
Professor Dulal Chandra Ghosh said, “We, the Indians, totally follow this decision. Our brothers who resided in East and West Pakistan in that period were severely tortured, women are brutally tortured and killed, and they lost their properties as well as their souls. Those people, who came back after leaving all of their things, need their personal security as well as respect. We must remember it.”

A few professors of Visva Bharati University in Birbhum, West Bengal have extended their support to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) amidst protests against the law across the state. A signature campaign by many across the country has been supported by these central university professors who are even vocal about it.
Professor Dulal Chandra Ghosh, Member of Executive Council of Visva Bharati, said, “I wholeheartedly support CAA. I support CAA because the national movement of freedom struggle is also entangled with this Act. Muhammad Ali Jinnah demanded a separate country for Muslims. His demand was ultimately fulfilled and India was divided into three parts.”
“As a result of this, a large number of Hindus left their properties and came back with nothing but clothes. When those ill-treated people came to India, they needed a shelter to stay here. So, they need their citizenship. It was also decided from the Liaquat-Nehru pact that the minorities should be protected with honour and respect in their respective areas,” he said.
We must remember it. They also fought for India’s freedom struggle. If CAA provides for their right to live in India, we are going to support this Act wholeheartedly.”
He concluded, “I think that majority of the teaching staffs and employees will support this Act because the CAA is for the outsiders and the refuges and has nothing to do with the Indian Muslims or Indian citizens.”

“Those people, who came here in India, should get their citizenship with dignity and honour. Agitations took place in West Bengal under the influence of influential persons from the political parties. They misguided the mass public and the public enjoys this. On one hand, they hold the national flag and on the other hand, they are setting buses, train stations and trains ablaze. This is not nationalism.”
