Stop Social Media Attacks

Kerala Government should take strict action against cyber goons, irrespective of their political affiliations, who insult, defame and involve in character assassination of journalists in social media. It is very unfortunate to notice that these kind of activities are on the increase against journalists, especially women journalists, who work in Malayalam media. All political parties, social and cultural organisations should come forward to give strict instructions to their social media activists to refrain from such anti-social behaviour.

Truth cannot be covered up by trying to silence the journalists who courageously report facts for the information of general public and sometimes even helps investigating agencies as has been happening in the ongoing investigation into the Gold Smuggling scam in Kerala. The current wave of attack is mainly by the leftist activists, probably due to a series of exposure of corruption, nepotism, inefficient and irresponsible actions of the Kerala State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sri Pinarayi Vijayan. The attitude, body language and even the arrogant nature of the Chief Minister himself, at times, while facing questions from the media persons during his daliy briefing is a matter of discussion accross the country. This is considered to be an unusual and unacceptable behaviour from such a high office as that of the Chief Minister of a State and it definitely gives a wrong message, especially to those who are waiting to violently react in the social media space to establish their web identity.

At a time when Kerala is passing through an all round difficult period, touching every sphere of life of the common men, it is high time that every one irrespective of their political, religious or sectorial affiliations stand together to overcome it and work together for a successful outcome.
